Oprah is Sued Twice in One Week

In the past week, Oprah has been sued twice by two different people. In the first suit, she is being sued for failure to protect an audience member from getting hurt while trying to get a good seat. In the second suit, she is being sued for allegedly stealing the concept for The Big Give from someone else. More details about the lawsuits are below.

In the first suit, Orit Greenberg, an audience member from the December 5, 2006 show, is seeking $50,000 in damages. She claims that Oprah’s staff failed to implement procedures to control members and their failure to do so resulted in her being pushed down a flight of stairs. She is currently suffering from severe and permanent injuries.

In the second suit, Darlene Tracy, claims Oprah stole the idea for The Big Give from her when she sent a proposal to the show entitled The Philanthropist. One year after Oprah’s executive producer rejected Tracy’s idea Oprah announced The Big Give.

The probability of these cases ever making it to court is slim… IF they are true it might be in Oprah’s best interest to settle.
