Derek Jeter’s Mom Reflects on His Childhood…Boy Was She Hard on Him

Derek’s mom being a disciplinarian paid off in the end. In a recent NY Post interview she admits that she would not let him slack off when it came to applying himself in school. "If he didn't bring home a 4.0, he couldn't play baseball or other sports," she tells the Post. "Once he was grounded for 30 days, and he wasn't allowed to use the car. He had to walk to school, which was really hard on him." Now that’s tough love…more parents of these young athletes need to stress the importance of soaring academically.
